Week of 2/29-3/1

Students continued their work with simple machines in science and the 13 original colonies in social studies.  We are wrapping up our booktalk papers in order to get ready for our march madness bracket which will put 16 different books in head-to-head competition.  Students will present their booktalk to the class and they will vote on a winner to advance to the next round.

During our Wednesday morning meeting, students worked with Mrs. Cardin on a communication skills building activity.  Groups had to piece together a puzzle without talking to one another or using some form of formal communication.

Mr. Chelman joined us on Wednesday for Dr. Seuss Day or Read Across America Day.  He read 'Finding Winnie' to our class.  We all enjoyed the story and were intrigued by the true events that lead to the famous stories of Winnie the Pooh.

During our Friday morning meeting, Annika shared a news paper article about the Jefferson school socks and pajama drive for foster children.  The article highlighted the hard work and thoughtfulness of the students at Jefferson.

Lastly, you see pictured below a few of the exquisite art work students produced for their poetry projects.
